I hope everyone enjoyed their Fourth of July weekend! I heard from several of you that you made the Sauteed Onion & Yogurt Dip with great success. As always, I thank you for commenting and sending me feedback!
This past week, we settled into vacation mode in Rhode Island. While there has been some cooking, there has been more packing, unpacking and spending time outside except when I have been otherwise glued to the television watching Wimbledon!
I have been waiting for an opportunity to practice my photography, something I am trying to improve upon. I am always snapping pictures with my iPhone, but I am still learning how to navigate our Canon Rebel, the camera I have used for my recipe photos for the past year and a half or so.
My husband agreed to be my tour guide as there is nothing he loves more than exploring the outdoors and meandering the twists and turns of this area either on foot, bike or by car. We spent three hours on a humid afternoon attempting to find subjects and scenery that would capture the beauty that surrounds us. Unfortunately, what appears beautiful to the naked eye is sometimes difficult to capture well with the camera but hopefully you will enjoy the pictures anyway! It was a fun afternoon in any case.
Here are some of the nearly 100 images I took, some of which have little notes…
Stone walls of all shapes and sizes heavily populate this area. Farms intersect with rivers and the ocean making for spectacular scenery on a sunny day. If you don’t know your way around, it’s easy to get lost as things start to look the same but all of these images were taken in different locations…
Hay bales overlook the ocean…
An historic well…
Adirondacks looking out at the river…
One of the historic cemeteries…
One continuous stone wall that appears to go on forever….
The general area is home to a couple of wineries and even a brewery with outdoor picnic table seating that we stopped at, but weren’t allowed to stay because we had our dog with us. If you look carefully, you’ll see one of two hawks that was flying over this vineyard that my husband pointed out to me while my eye was in the view finder!
An iced coffee hit the spot…
An example of some of the rocky beaches in this area…
I love the background in this picture…
This little house caught my eye as we drove past and we turned around to get a shot of it. It might be the cutest thing ever! It’s a little lending library! Have you ever seen one like this? Very clever…
Field of Dreams…
This entrance reminds me of a sand castle for some reason…
Stone walls and ocean…
Stillness…
Marsh and harbor view…
Young corn?
What do you think of the lavender door?
At this point, I was exhausted so I handed the camera to my husband who took the final shot below. Thank you for showing me the way, H!
See you next week!
