Happy Fourth of July weekend!!! Do you feel like summer is half over? I once worked with someone who lamented that our nation’s birthday was the half-way point of the summer! Wait, what? For me, I feel like summer is just getting underway and I hope you do too!
Friends frequently ask me if working on the blog takes up a lot of my time. The answer is yes! But, I truly enjoy it and especially appreciate when people comment on my posts or say they’ve bookmarked or tried a recipe, mostly with good results 🙂
Although my reader list and Facebook likes have expanded beyond people I know personally, many of The Kitchen Scout readers are good friends and some have emailed or texted photos they have taken when they’ve made one of my recipes. Others have sent pictures to The Kitchen Scout’s Facebook page. This is something that I really, really love!
So, I thought that today I would “turn the tables” and celebrate all those wonderful photographs by sharing them with everyone! I’d like to do another post like this in the future so if you are feeling inspired by a dish you have prepared from the blog or are visiting a restaurant I have reviewed, please be in touch either by:
1. Taking a photo and sending it to valerie@thekitchenscout.com.
2. Using the hashtag, #thekitchenscout on an Instagram photo; or,
3. Sending me a message via The Kitchen Scout Facebook page with your photo attached.
Have some fun with it and do not obsess about styling the photo. As you will see below, everyone’s interpretation of a recipe is different. That, my friends, makes the world go around.
So here goes…
The first recipe on the blog, Chicken Parmesan Meatballs was met with great enthusiasm!
Here is Mimi’s version which she served over pasta…
And here is Ann M’s version simmering on the stove. Leftovers make amazing little sub sandwiches…
Who can forget my adventures with Sue when we made Fettucine with Lamb Ragu?
Ann was inspired. Yum…
This past winter, my friend, Deedo tested a draft recipe for my Turkey & White Bean Chili. She said it was to die for and suggested that we add just a touch more cayenne…
In February, my friend Astrid snapped a picture of the Beef and Butternut Squash Stew that her husband Greg was making for Valentine’s Day (awwww)…
My friend, Jane made Cheesy Baked Tortellini on a few occasions, serving it to her daughter’s sports teams during a “psyche” dinner and bringing it to a potluck. I am hungry looking at this photo and it is such an easy recipe…
Grilled Asparagus & Beet Salad struck a chord with lots of folks and these three interpretations below all look delicious!
From Amy…
From Ramsay…
And from Sarah…
Jane also made this Asparagus, Ham & Gruyere Tart, leaving out the ham to accommodate the vegetarians in her family…
Seared Scallops with Corn and Bacon was very popular!
From my friends, Jill, Cherry and Carlota…
And from Andree via Facebook…
Ramsay made this beautiful version of Chicken with Red and Yellow Peppers, an old school recipe from The Silver Palette that is perfect any time of year…
Another very popular recipe was my Roasted Eggplant Parmesan. People eat it hot, room temperature or cold. Leftovers can be made into a sandwich, but there may not be any leftovers…
From Ann via Facebook…
And I love this photo from Renee who said her family devoured the eggplant. The photo she sent definitely proves the point!
Francine sent a photo of the Armenian Pilaf we cooked together to let me know that her children loved it! Two of my friends tell me it is on regular rotation in their house too!
And I would be remiss to exclude this photo, taken because I was invited by two of my readers who happen to be friends with my cousin, to come to have dinner with them in Duxbury! They prepared a lovely meal for us which included this starter of Strawberry Gazpacho. Thank you, Jean and Hannah…
And finally (and with her permission), here is a picture of my friend Susan enjoying a very large glass of red wine at Maialino in New York City, a restaurant I mention in NYC Food Crawl – Day Two. She and her husband loved it and are hopefully going back sometime this summer…
Well, that’s what I found on my various devices and social network platforms! I hope I didn’t leave anyone out but please know that any and all communications are welcome and appreciated! So do send me your photos and hopefully I can include you next time!
Until next week…
